Leading From The Future
The Key to effective leadership in the 21st centuryAbstract:
While many people think teachers and administrators have it easy, the truth is education is a very taxing endeavor. The daily demands can be overwhelming, so much so that it's hard to stand back and consider the important issues we face in education. However, with the world changing so quickly from the astounding technological developments of the last few years, there is mounting pressure for educators to reconsider what schools and learning should look like in the new world of the 21st century.
In this presentation, Ted will examine some of the major trends occurring in technology today and explore what this could mean for education. He will look at the new skills students will need to be literate in the new technologically rich environment that is rapidly emerging. The changing world has created a huge need for leaders with a clear vision of what is important as schools enter the 21st century. Ted will appeal to educators to consider the essential role of leadership in schools today in the classroom, leading students into the skills they will need for success. And leadership from administrators providing the instructional leadership that is so desperately needed in schools today. Ted will ask participants to take their eyes off the world of today and begin to provide educational leadership by fixing their eyes on the future. Co-developed with Ian Jukes.
