Effective research and communication skills for presentationsAbstract:
New presentation software is being used in schools as a way for students and teachers to communicate. However, there is an overwhelming tendency to focus on the features of the programs instead of the content of the message being presented. This results in what Jamie McKenzie calls PowerPointlessness and both students and teachers can fall into this trap.
In this presentation, we will look at the basics of what makes for an effective presentation. We will look at how the basic principles of graphic design and colour apply to PowerPoint-type presentations. But we won’t stop there. We will also look at the research skills that must accompany the design skills if you want a presentation to have real impact. So whether you want to use presentation software more effectively for student projects or you want to learn how to make your own presentations more effective, this session is for you.
Mr. McCain will gladly tailor any presentation to your specific needs.
