Visual Learning and Generation M

Abstract:

Today's youth spend several hours a day outside of school exposed to visual media, but only 90 minutes a day outside of school reading. This presentation explores the power of images and the need for visual literacy, focusing on the pedagogical benefits of various media types, leading to increased choice in student access to educational content. From handheld playback devices to digital cameras and school-wide video content servers, modern technologies have a tremendous role to play in facilitating the exploration of visual content across the curriculum and at almost every grade level.
