Highly Educated Useful People
Equipping students with skills that will last a lifetimeAbstract:
Does success in school automatically mean success in the world of work? In this presentation, Ted will tell you that he did well in public school and university. He then takes you back to some of his early experiences in the work force and tells you how well he really did early on in his career (hint: it wasn't a pretty sight!).
Ted explores the reasons behind why he was so unprepared for the world outside education in this presentation. He examines how the product oriented approach many teachers use for instruction and evaluation leaves students dependent on their instructors. He then discusses six changes we need to make to our teaching if we want to equip our students with the independent thinking skills necessary for success in the modern world.
