Moving Towards Transformation

Abstract:

Technology is bringing a wonderful richness of learning experience to education that was not possible without it. However, schools are struggling with how to best use these new learning tools. Why are we finding it so difficult integrating electronic tools into our daily classroom activities?

This presentation examines current technology use in schools using Bernajean Porter's three stages of technological implementation as a guide (literacy, adapting, and transformation). It suggests how we can move towards transformative uses of technology in our classrooms. The presentation also outlines some projects where technology has been used to change the way instruction takes place.
